Requirements

Any author categorized by RC as a ResearchCycler (RCR) and who places a preprint of his or her authorship on the platform will be able to choose between:

  • Self-management to publish a paper in the Journal
  • Self-management to publish a paper in Book series/conferences papers.
  • Ask ResearchCycles to manage the publication of the paper in Journals classified according to Scimago or WoS as Q3 or Q4.
  • Ask ResearchCycles to manage the publication of the paper in Book series/conferences papers (all quartiles, except Q1)
  • Request to RC fixed authors to quickly complete the campaign (subject to availability).

In all cases, the Researchcycler shall comply with the terms and conditions of Researchcycles which are designed to safeguard the policies established by the scientific community on scholarly publications and all authors.

Every ResearchCycler without exception shall:

  • Sign an agreement with Researchcycles and its co-authors where they can attest to the originality and unpublished character of their research.
  • Sign an agreement that allows ResearCycles to place the preprint in its platform with the purpose of raising funds through the integration of co-authors, who will actively participate in the feedback of the document’s content until obtaining a final version that will be called a paper.
  • Sign an agreement with ResearchCycles where they agree to use the funds raised first to make registration of papers in journals, book series/conference papers mandatory and optional, to make payments for open access in journals indexed by SCOPUS or WoS.
  • Sign a service agreement with ResearchCycles.

Example of calculation #1:

A ResearchCycler (RCR) has only one co-author and decides to place his or her paper on the ResearchCycles (RC) platform; the RCR agrees with RC that it will allow three additional co-authors. The journal must be SCOPUS classified as Q1, the registration in the journal is 300 USD and if you want it as open Access 400 USD more. The RCR will not include permanent authors.

Total number of authors = 5

Royalty base for Q1 (see price list) = 850 USD /co-author

Royalty PA =0.60*(3*850) = 1,530 USD.

Use of royalties:

Fee per registration = 300 USD (required)

Fee for open Access = 400 USD (optional)

Assuming that the RCR did not accept payment by open Access, the total payment will be 300 USD.

Therefore:

Surplus royalties = 1530 USD -300 USD = 1.230 USD.

Does not apply for items classified as Q1.

Example of calculation #2:

A ResearchCycler (RCR) has only one co-author and decides to place his or her paper on the ResearchCycles (RC) platform; the RCR agrees with RC that it will allow three additional co-authors. The journal must be SCOPUS classified as Q3, the registration in the journal is 200 USD and if you want it as Open Access 300 USD more. The RCR requested to include a permanent author.

Total number of authors = 5

Royalty base for Q3 (see price list) = 300 USD /co-author

Royalty AP = 0.60*(2*300)+0.4*(1*300) = 480 USD.

Use of royalties:

Payment per registration = 200 USD (required)

Payment for Open Access = 400 USD (optional)

Assuming that the RCR did not accept payment by open Access, the total payment will be 200 USD.

Therefore:

Surplus royalties = 480 USD -200 USD = 280 USD.

Royalty base for Q3 (see price list) = 300 USD /co-author

Royalty AP = 0.40*(2*300) + 0.2*(1*300) = 300 USD.

Use of royalties:

Payment per registration = 200 USD (required)

Payment for open Access = 400 USD (optional)

Assuming that the RCR did not accept payment by open Access, the total payment will be 200 USD.

Therefore:

remaining royalties = 300USD -200 USD = 100 USD.

Example of calculation #3:

A ResearchCycler (RCR) decides to place his or her paper on the ResearchCycles (RC) platform; during the time of investment, 4 authors entered their paper. The selected conference will publish their papers in a book series indexed in SCOPUS and according to SCIMAGO classified in Q2. The registration fee includes the publication and is 600 USD

Total number of authors = 6

Royalty base for Q2 in conferences (see price list) = 250USD /co-author

Total royalties = 5*250= 1250 USD.

Use of total royalties:

Payment per registration = 600 USD (required)

Therefore:

Surplus royalties = 1250USD -600 USD = 650 USD.

Royalties belonging to the RCR= 0.60*650 USD = 390USD

Total number of authors = 6

Royalty basis for Q2 in conferences (see price list) = 250 USD /co-author

Total royalties = 5*250= 1250 USD.

Use of total royalties:

Payment per registration = 600 USD (required)

Therefore:

Surplus royalties = 1250USD -600 USD = 650 USD.

Royalties belonging to the RCR = 0.40*650 USD = 260 USD

Example of calculation #4:

A ResearchCycler (RCR) with only one additional co-author, decides to place his or her paper on the ResearchCycles (RC) platform; during the time of investment 3 authors entered the paper. The selected conference will publish its proceedings in a Book series indexed in SCOPUS and according to SCIMAGO classified in Q4. The registration fee includes publication and is 300 USD.

Total number of authors = 5

Royalty basis for Q4 in conferences (see price list) = 150USD /co-author

Total royalties = 3*150 = 450USD.

Use of total royalties:

Payment per registration = 300 USD (required)

Therefore:

Surplus royalties = 450USD -300 USD = 150 USD.

Royalties belonging to the RCR = 0.60*150 USD = 90USD

Total number of authors = 5

Royalty basis for Q4 in conferences (see price list) = 150 USD /co-author

Total royalties = 3*150 = 450 USD.

Use of total royalties:

Payment per registration = 300 USD (required)

Therefore:

Surplus royalties = 450USD -300 USD = 150USD.

Royalties belonging to the RCR = 0.40*150 USD = 60USD
